Gifting the Gifted:  Parenting Your Exceptional Child

Drawing from the research of Dr. Brené Brown, Dianne Morris Jones and Nancy Schornack will guide our exploration of valuable and sometimes hidden gifts that we can offer our kids.   The evening will be an invitation to wholehearted parenting and will be packed with ideas to bravely parent your child from a place of compassion and connection.  In a fun, interactive presentation, we will explore these exceptional gifts for your exceptional child.

The Gift of Imperfection:  By unpacking the trappings of perfectionism, we will learn how you can strive for excellence and encourage your child to do so as well and be imperfect…all at the same time.

The Gift of Vulnerability:  Vulnerability is the birthplace for connection, and yet is a risky endeavor.  We will explore the myths and truths of vulnerability, as well as the costs and benefits.

The Gift of Boundaries: We will explore how defining and communicating clear boundaries will enhance your relationship with your child.

The Gift of Failure:  Failure is excruciating.  It is also the place where growth occurs.  We will explore the benefits of allowing your child to fail, and being a safe place to fall.

The Gift of Compassion:  In the midst of disappointment, failure, and struggle, compassion can be a game changer.  We will learn about golden expressions of empathy, and the value and practice of self-compassion.

The Gifts of Laughter, Song, Dance, Rest, and Play – We will debunk the idea that these are all unnecessary frills, and learn how they are really the fabric of whole hearted living.
